The Yaesu FT-817ND is a compact and versatile transceiver that operates across multiple frequency bands, including HF, 6m, VHF, and UHF. It covers a transmission frequency range of 160-10m, 6m, 2m, and 70cm while receiving frequencies span from 100kHz to 56MHz, 76-154MHz, and 420-470MHz. With a power output of 5W for SSB, CW, and FM modes when powered by a 13.8V external DC source, it also offers lower power options of 2.5W SSB/CW/FM and 1.5W AM when using 9.6V Ni-MH batteries or AA batteries. The FT-817ND supports various operating modes, including USB, LSB, CW, AM, FM, and WFM, and digital modes, such as RTTY and PSK31. Its dual VFOs, split capability, and built-in electronic keyer enhance operational flexibility. The transceiver features a two-colour LCD multi-function display, bar graph metering for power output, ALC, SWR, modulation, and adjustable RF gain and squelch control. Optional filters, such as narrow CW and SSB filters, can be added to improve performance.
