Without a doubt, the single most important purchase you will ever make is the antenna. Mono-band antennas like ham sticks, work about as good or slightly better than a short stubby screwdriver - but without help, their bandwidth is annoyingly narrow, particularly on the lower bands. This can be a disruptive issue if you change frequencies often, as operators typically do. While the ham stick type antenna has some negatives, as any antenna will, the pluses outweigh the minuses. The price point of the ham stick antenna makes them compelling. Mono-band Mobile Whips, or HAM STICK Whips, make HF mobile or portable operating fun and easy!
